🚨Thank you, KQED/NPR, for the opportunity to share our story and spotlight the work we at the Santa Clara County Office of Education — alongside our local school districts — are doing to protect every child and family in this climate of fear.
Over 60% of Santa Clara County’s residents are immigrant families — the highest in California. Right now, fear is keeping too many students out of school, with absences up 30%. Every missed day is a lost opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. This crisis affects all of us — our children, our communities, and our future.
We must stand together to make our schools safe havens where every student feels welcome, protected, and ready to learn. Let’s keep fighting for the safe, inclusive schools our students deserve.
