We could not be more excited to celebrate MetroED’s 2026 Teacher of the Year, Nathan Chukes!

Nathan teaches Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing at SVCTE and truly makes an impact on students’ lives every day. He is also a proud alum who took Automotive Tune-Up classes here in the early 1980s and has now been teaching at SVCTE for the past 25 years.

To help share his story, Lindsey Wong from the Santa Clara County Office of Education recently visited to film Nathan and his classroom. The video will premiere at the 56th Annual Santa Clara County Teacher Recognition Celebration on October 19.

🔧 SVCTE Cybersecurity instructor David Malpica served as an Ignited Fellow with Western Digital’s Global Operations – Workforce of the Future team over the summer. During his fellowship, he worked on two projects: e-learning content for operators and technicians as well as a hands-on hard drive teardown project.

David is now bringing that experience to his students through three hands-on units focused on hard drive teardown, exploring how hardware protects data through an interactive simulator, and learning how to safely dispose of retired drives, giving students an inside look at the technology and careers behind the devices they use every day. Leave a 👏 in the comments for David.
