We are proud of the case work that we do in our office helping constituents with the federal government. Even on tough cases we are dogged in our determination to push the government and get a result for the people. This article is about an example of our work for a couple who have been forced to remain apart. We always have more to do, but we continue our work to help secure outcomes from the federal government for our constituents no matter who, where, or what the issue.

In 2025, Margarita Fedorova married her husband, Sami Younis, over Zoom from her home in San Jose. Proud to put $65,000 back in my constituent’s pockets from the IRS. One of the best parts of my job is returning my constituents’ hard-earned money they are owed from the federal government. When a community member reached out for help because he was missing his 2025 IRS refund, I secured it from the agency within just a couple of weeks.

Our service members should be focused on the mission at hand without having to worry about their families’ safety in military housing. That’s why Congress must pass my bipartisan MOLD Act to strengthen oversight and address poor maintenance that exposes military families to mold and other health hazards. I will continue working across the aisle to ensure those who serve our country have safe housing.

After dismantling USAID, this Administration is directing global health assistance to foreign governments without adequate transparency or oversight. That’s why I led a letter to Secretary Rubio requesting public access to these agreements and clear safeguards to protect taxpayer dollars. We must ensure American leadership in global health continues to save lives and strengthen our partnerships around the world.
