Honoring Black History Month.✨

In 1969, B. Barton McIntyre made history as the highest ranking Black officer in The Salvation Army upon his appointment as lieutenant colonel.

His leadership extended beyond rank, as he helped establish a committee dedicated to addressing the needs of the Black community and expanding opportunities for Black officers with the Army. His advocacy strengthened pathways for representation, dialogue, and progress.

This month, we recognize leaders whose courage and commitment helped shape a more inclusive future, continuing the work of service, dignity, and doing the most good for all.❤️
