Willow Glen Cares supports underprivileged students across both Willow Glen Middle School and High Schools. About a quarter of students at Willow Glen Middle and High School are underprivileged. They are struggling financially for many different reasons, and some are homeless. These young people face numerous barriers to attending school and trying to graduate while living in difficult situations.

By discreetly supplementing students’ basic needs and helping to fill gaps in their educational experience, students can then focus on improving their grades, attendance, test scores, and self-esteem. These improvements reduce truancy and at-risk behaviors, and can lead to opening more doors of opportunity to them.

Help make prom a special night for some of our students. Willow Glen Cares is collecting gently used prom dresses to distribute in advance of the big event. Please email Julie H. at [email protected] to coordinate pick-up or drop-off of your donation.

WHAT WE NEED:
• Prom, Formal, Bridesmaid, or Fancy Party Dresses that are appropriate for teens
• Short or Long Styles in Sizes 0-30
• Current Styles Only Please (from 2010 to present)
• New and Like New Accessories, Suitable for Prom

WE'RE SORRY BUT WE CAN'T ACCEPT:
• Tuxedos or Mens Clothing
• Shoes
• Wedding Dresses or Casual Dresses
• Makeup
• Older Out of Style Fashions

Please have the dress dry cleaned, on a hanger, and ready to wear! For most of our recipients, the cost of dry cleaning is too expensive. Donations must be received by Sunday, March 19, 2023.

It’s distribution day for our January Personal Essentials drive. Over 40 bags of personal care items including cleaning products, shampoos, soaps, etc are being given out to our WG Cares students today at WGHS and WGMS.

We’re grateful to all of the donors who contributed the items, and to the volunteers who packed the bags and gave them out! And thanks to Kelli and Amanda for spearheading this effort.
