Most retirees love retirement, but many miss the camaraderie they shared for so many years with City colleagues.

You can still be part of the City “family” through retirement associations available to City of San José retirees.

The San Jose Retired Employees Association (SJREA) is open to Federated retirees, whether newly retired or years into retirement. Members meet six times a year to hear from speakers, socialize, share concerns, and stay up to date on issues that impact retirees.

Learn more about SJREA:

The Association of Retired San Jose Police Officers and Firefighters is dedicated to protecting the benefits of San Jose’s retired police officers and firefighters. The Association also hosts events throughout the year, giving former colleagues and their families opportunities to stay connected.

Today marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

We remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives and the families, colleagues, and communities forever changed.

That number includes hundreds of firefighters and law enforcement officers who responded that day. We honor their courage, service, and sacrifice, along with all those who answered the call to help.

Happy National Beach Day! 🏖️

We’re lucky to have several California beaches within driving distance of San José. If you’re looking for a coastal day trip, here are a few places to consider:

Santa Cruz Main Beach – A classic boardwalk experience with rides, games and plenty of activity.
Natural Bridges State Beach – Known for ocean views, tidepools and its monarch butterfly preserve.
Gray Whale Cove State Beach – A smaller, scenic beach near Half Moon Bay.
Pacifica State Beach (Linda Mar) – Popular with beach walkers and beginner surfers.

Do you have a favorite beach or coastal spot? Share it in the comments.
