Today, Councilmember Candelas and our city leadership recognized the SJPD Robbery Unit and the SCC District Attorney’s Office for their outstanding efforts investigating and prosecuting a violent robbery of one of our small family-owned businesses in San Jose. This case involved over a dozen suspects, thousands of dollars worth in damage, and the assault of an elderly business owner. The dedication of the Detectives truly exemplifies the spirit of SJPD.

On Monday morning, members of the San José Fire Department joined Councilmember Domingo Candelas at The Villages to demonstrate the capabilities of our wildland firefighting apparatus for local residents.

The demonstration highlighted how SJFD’s Type 6 and Type 3 wildland engines are specifically designed to navigate the steep, off-road terrain surrounding The Villages. These specialized vehicles play a critical role in quickly accessing remote areas, supporting wildfire suppression efforts, and helping protect our communities—especially during wildfire season.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect with residents, answer questions, and showcase the equipment and resources that help keep San José safe.

The Closing Ceremony for Saturday Night Lights was one to remember as it recognized all the partners who made this eight-week program possible for the youth in our community. Saturday Night Lights provided middle and high school youth with safe, supportive spaces to play futsal soccer. This free program would not have been possible without the support of the San Jose Earthquakes, and also our very own SJPD Soccer Team. Our Officers volunteered each week to coach these incredibly motivated and talented youth and we are grateful for this opportunity to build long lasting relationships.
