Puerta del Sol is a new Spanish tapas restaurant that opened in the Sunrise Plaza Shopping Center on October 1st. A warm and inviting place with both indoor and outdoor seating, it has become so well-liked that reservations are recommended. Their chef who hails from Madrid prepares delicious foods including versions of the classic Spanish dish paella, and offers specials on alternate weekends. When the tables are full, try seating at the bar which offers both mixed drinks and wines from Spain and California. Average cost is $20-40 per person. They welcome you to visit and try the delicious flavors of Spain!

I was honored to celebrate and honor San Jose Sharks legend Joe Thornton by officially proclaiming November 23, 2024, as Joe Thornton Day. Thornton's illustrious career, marked by his Hockey Hall of Fame-caliber achievements and philanthropic work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, has left an enduring impact on the hockey world.
The San Jose Sharks acquired Thornton from the Boston Bruins, who drafted him first overall in 1997, just ahead of Patrick Marleau. After 18 remarkable NHL seasons, Thornton announced his retirement in July 2024. To commemorate his legacy, the Sharks will retire his iconic number 19 jersey on November 23, 2024, before their game against the Buffalo Sabres.

I was honored to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for Kaiser Permanente’s new, state-of-the-art, all-electric hospital on Thursday, November 20, 2024. This modern facility, set to replace the 50-year-old hospital, will be built at the corner of Hospital Parkway and International Circle.
The ceremony, which included a blessing dance by the Calpulli Tonalehqueh Aztec Dance Group, marked the beginning of a project that will bring significant advancements to healthcare in the area. The new hospital, scheduled to open in the fall of 2029, will feature 300 private patient rooms, cutting-edge medical technology, and a focus on patient comfort and safety.
