Almost half of the 3rd grade students in Santa Clara County are behind in their reading skills and need support. The Santa Clara County Library District - SCCLD started the Read to Lead campaign and is looking for volunteers aged 14 and older to help mentor children. Training will be provided at the Gilroy and Morgan Hill libraries. This is an excellent opportunity to give back to your community, enhance your college applications and make a difference in a child’s life. Several thousand people donate their time each year to help tutor students, mentor second language learners and more at Santa Clara County Library District - SCCLD libraries. Volunteers worked over 34,000 hours last year, which is a huge boost in providing services to the community.
