Interested in shaping the future of SGCWD?

We are now accepting applications to appoint an upcoming Board of Directors position to fill the term through December 2026. Applicants must live in the District’s service area, be a US citizen, and have no felony convictions.

Please submit your resume to the District office at 8366 Grand Avenue in Rosemead before Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. The Board will review applicants during the upcoming Board of Directors meeting on January 14, 2025 at 4 p.m.

We are grateful for Director Mary Cammarano's 16 years of service to the Board and wish her all the best in her retirement.

This past Monday was the last time I participated as a volunteer Planning Commissioner. It has been an honor and privilege serving my community these past five years. Working with my fellow commissioner and City staff, I have the opportunity to see big & small developments come to the City, ordinances to better the community and new & existing businesses calling San Gabriel home. Climate change is bringing another heat wave to the Northeast San Fernando Valley and we will continue to see temperatures rise above 100 degrees.

During this time, we must stay vigilant - remember to stay hydrated, check on your elderly neighbors and family, and avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours.
If you or a loved one needs to seek refuge from the heat, the City of Los Angeles is activating cooling centers today through Friday. All parks will close at 9:00 PM and all pools will be open this Labor Day weekend, Saturday through Monday, from 1:00 - 5:00 PM.

*UPDATE*
Sylmar Recreation Center is Council District 7’s designated cooling center staying open beyond the normal recreation center hours. They will be open Saturday from 8 AM - 9 PM, Sunday and Monday from 10 AM - 9 PM.
