Yes on Prop I: Bringing You Affordable Housing This November!

Prop I dedicates existing city funds from the Big Real Estate transactions for the city’s top priorities: building affordable housing and keeping tenants in their homes.

While rents in many SF neighborhoods have almost doubled (!!), City Hall is sitting on public parcels citywide that could collectively provide thousands of dedicated affordable units — we just need the money to build them.

The Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development has projected it will take $20 billion of public funds to meet San Francisco’s affordable housing needs.

Housing advocates have one solution coming to your November ballot: the Affordable Housing Guarantee Act. It doesn’t raise taxes, but dedicates a portion of Big Real Estate proceeds to affordable housing for the rest of us.

There’s a ton of public policies that SF can and should be embracing to address our headline-snatching affordability crisis.

We’re all feeling the headlines in real time: rents, housing costs and evictions are all skyrocketing! Especially for young people, it can feel hella bleak.

But there ARE solutions, and you can help make them a reality!

The Affordable Housing Guarantee Act is coming to your November ballot – and Big Real Estate is hoping renters stay home. Whether you want an apartment you can host watch parties in or whether you just want safe affordable options to live, this measure will guarantee that affordable homes for all income levels actually get built in SF.

The June primary had some setbacks for SF progressives, but we are celebrating Connie Chan moving on to the November election.

We need something to drive the progressive vote out and one thing you can do today is pledge to sign the petition supporting the Affordable Housing Guarantee Act. Over $500 million has been raised through the luxury transfer tax, and this ballot measure will ensure those funds are earmarked for affordable housing development.
