We’re proud to have SF Adult Probation’s Division Director Adella Martinez, DPO Nicole Caruso, and Legislative Affairs Manager Alek Hartwick joining this important conversation at the 14th Annual Reentry Conference & Expo.

The panel will bring together probation, parole, federal supervision, community partners, and people with lived experience to explore what works and how we can continue strengthening community supervision.

This summer, we had the privilege of hosting Ali, a 2L law student at USF School of Law, through our partnership with the SF Department of Police Accountability (DPA). 🎓⚖️

Internships like this matter. They give future professionals a firsthand look at public service and a deeper understanding of the many roles that make up our justice system.

For us, it’s especially meaningful to give future legal professionals an opportunity to see Adult Probation’s work up close, from supporting successful reentry to working alongside the courts and our community partners.

Ali brought curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in learning throughout her time with us. We’re grateful to have been part of her journey and wish her continued success as she moves forward in her legal career! 👏

Congratulations to SPO Habash and SPO Robinson on their promotion to Supervising Probation Officer, and welcome to DPO Leung, our newest Deputy Probation Officer.

Last week we celebrated Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week, and no theme could fit this department better than Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision. We asked our staff what they build bridges to, and their answers say everything. Connection. Opportunity. Second chances. Community.

In San Francisco, supervision isn’t about walls. It’s about bridges, and the officers and staff of the San Francisco Adult Probation Department build them every single day.

Thank you to everyone who made the week special, and to the professionals in this field everywhere who do the work with heart. The week is over. The work continues.

A devoted family man and a compassionate leader, Chief Washington greeted everyone with warmth and made those around him feel valued. His kindness will not be forgotten.
