Mission Promise Neighborhood The Mission Promise Neighborhood is a community anti-poverty education initiative.

MPN is a citywide community partnership that was created to support kids and families in San Francisco's Mission District. Our partners include:

¡Felicitaciones a los becarios del Mission Promise Neighborhood Scholarship 2026! 🎓✨

Este año, MEDA, Mission Graduates y MPN recaudaron $25,000 para estudiantes de John O'Connell que se preparan para la universidad — el total más alto en la historia de esta beca. Se otorgaron diecinueve becas, entre $500 y $3,000, destinadas a los costos reales de llegar a la universidad: laptops, libros de texto, comidas y boletos de avión.

Reconocidos en el Desayuno de Graduación el 27 de mayo, estos jóvenes líderes han demostrado un compromiso extraordinario con sus comunidades. Desde 2015, hemos otorgado 68 becas juntos — y la clase de este año es prueba de lo que es posible cuando una comunidad apoya a sus jóvenes. 💛🌟
Congratulations to our 2026 Mission Promise Neighborhood Scholarship recipients! 🎓✨

This year, MEDA, Graduates, and MPN raised $25,000 for college-bound seniors at John O'Connell — our largest fundraising total ever. Nineteen scholarships were awarded, ranging from $500–$3,000, going toward the real costs of getting to college: laptops, textbooks, meals, plane tickets, etc.

Honored at the Senior Breakfast on May 27th, these young leaders have shown extraordinary commitment to their communities. Since 2015, we've awarded 68 scholarships together — and this year's class is proof of what's possible when a community shows up for its young people. 💛🌟

California’s families are one of the smartest investments we can make.

Why do cradle-to-career, place-based initiatives like Promise Neighborhoods work? Because they reflect how people actually live by connecting housing, education, workforce development, and family supports over time so families can build economic mobility.

Our latest ROI analysis shows the California Promise Neighborhood Network (CPNN) generates nearly $16.6 million in annual returns on about $4.2 million in yearly costs. That is a $4 return for every $1 invested.

What does that look like in practice? It looks like Lina.
Lina first came to Mission Economic Development Agency in San Francisco's Mission District for free tax preparation in 2020. That one point of entry opened the door to a broader ecosystem of support. Since then, her journey has generated an estimated $233,000 in value through tax savings, workforce training, pandemic support, and homeownership.

That is the power of coordinated, place-based investment. It helps families stay rooted, build wealth, and create long-term stability.

AB 1969, the It Takes a Village Act, reflects that same understanding: families do better when support systems are connected, community-based, and built for the long term.
