SFPD Academy Class 291 officially reported for duty this week, taking their first steps toward earning the star.

The class was welcomed by Mayor Daniel Lurie, Chief Derrick Lew, and members of SFPD Command Staff, who spoke to the recruits about the responsibility, commitment, and service that come with a career in law enforcement.

This morning, Chief Lew and the SFPD Recruitment Unit hosted the newest members of the 291st Recruit Class at Police Headquarters for their Signing Day.

Today marked the beginning of their long careers with the SFPD where they pledged the commitment to SFPD, the Academy and to San Francisco, with their friends and family watching and cheering them on.

On Monday, all 40 Recruit Officers will begin their 8 month academy journey, learning the basics of police work! We hope to see all 40 recruits come graduation day.
