Applying to jobs and not hearing back?

Here’s a tip from Eugene, a Senior Solutions Architect at Tencent Americas: AI resume screening is getting smarter at spotting generic, AI-written resumes, so focus on specific projects and details tailored to each job, not a one-size-fits-all version.

This is the kind of practical, real-world advice our latest virtual workshop, Level Up Your Career, was built around. In August, we partnered with Tencent Americas for a free, three-part series covering AI in the job search, personalized career coaching, and mock interviews.

“This program provided invaluable, practical insights into leveraging AI for my job search and gave me the rare opportunity to do a live mock interview with a supportive mentor. Getting direct feedback and connecting with industry professionals boosted my confidence immensely,” shared Zinaida, a Level Up Your Career participant.

Another favorite moment from the workshop: Rozita, Head of Business Development & Partnerships at Tencent, reminded job seekers that AI is a tool and supplement, not a substitute, for human connection.

“That human connection is where you have those conversations, and that person could say, ‘you know what, did you think about that?’ You are not going to get that from AI,” Rozita said.

Tencent Americas has been a valued partner since 2024, and this year, 20 volunteers showed up to coach, connect, and share real, honest advice.

Since the partnership began, more than 50 Tencent Americas volunteers have contributed their time and expertise to support women at pivotal moments in their career journeys.

Programs like this happen because partners like Tencent Americas believe in showing up, not just once, but again and again.

Thank you, Tencent Americas. 💫

Join us in welcoming Katie Colendich to the Dress for Success San Francisco/San Jose Board of Directors! ❤️

A strategic business partner who helps technology companies navigate growth, risk, and change, Katie currently works as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Asana.

With over twenty years of experience, she has spent her career guiding companies through scale, complex transactions, and transformation, including senior legal roles at HP and Hewlett-Packard Company before she joined Asana in 2020.

“I’ve spent my career in rooms that women haven’t always had access to, and I know how much of getting there comes down to confidence and opportunity rather than talent alone,” Katie shared.

“What drew me to Dress for Success is how practical its mission is: it’s not just about a wardrobe or a resume, it’s about giving women the tools and confidence to walk into a room and stay there. I’m honored to join the Board and support that work as it grows," she said.

Katie has focused much of her board service on organizations that advance economic development and job creation. She also serves on the boards of the San Francisco Ballet and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

When she’s not in the boardroom, you’ll find Katie cheering on the SF Giants and the Golden State Valkyries.

Welcome, Katie!

Today is the 55th Women’s Equality Day. And we are still not equal.

Women earn 82 cents on the dollar, and at the current pace, that gap won’t close until 2155.

We are not waiting that long. And neither are the women who come through our doors.

This year, we’ve already served more than 750 Bay Area women and delivered over 1,400 appointments. Participants in our cohort programs have seen an average income increase of 191% within a year of completing them.

None of this happens without you.

We’ve already raised nearly $14,000 toward our $40,000 goal for 20Forward, our 20th anniversary fundraising campaign.

If every one of our followers gave just $18, we’d surpass that goal. We’re not there yet, and we need your help to get there.

$18. The size of the wage gap, turned into action. Will you give $18 today?

Big news: Our new Outfront Media digital billboard campaign went live this week! 🎉

Women still earn 82 cents on the dollar, and at this pace, the gender pay gap isn’t projected to close until 2155. We’re not waiting that long, and Outfront Media is helping us spread the word.

Featuring Juthaporn, our Client Success Ambassador, this billboard puts that hard truth where it can’t be missed, right along heavily traveled commuter routes.

You can spot it in two locations:
📍 Oakland: Northbound I-880 near Market Street, West Oakland
📍 Berkeley: East side of I-80, about 1,500 feet north of University Avenue

It’ll be running for 8 weeks, timed right through Women’s Equality Day next week.

A huge thank you to Outfront Media for making these billboards possible with their generous donation.

If you spot it on your commute, snap a photo and tag us, we’d love to see it in the wild!
