We're a home away from home for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Located a few blocks from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Mission Bay, the Nancy & Stephen Grand Family House houses up to 80 patient families per night and offers communal kitchens and living spaces, a toy room, outdoor courtyard, and more. Founded in 1981, Family House is a 501c3 nonprofit

organization providing family-centered care in a supportive community dedicated to caring for the whole family while their child is undergoing treatment.

“Family House was set up as cost-free place for families to stay, but also as a center based very much on communal experience, so these families could share with each other what they were going through,” said Family House co-founder Dr. Arthur Ablin, Head of Clinical Pediatric Oncology at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we're sharing the story of one family's strength: the Hammonds.

When Aubrey Hammond was diagnosed with a rare and advanced form of liver cancer, her family left their home in Page, Arizona to seek specialized care, and found a second home at Family House. Follow along this month as we share more of their story.

Our Stay With Fozzy program is growing! 🥹🐾

Huge thanks to LUMA Hotel San Francisco for being such an incredible partner and spearheading this program. Inspired by the beloved therapy dog who comforted children going through treatment, Fozzy represents the compassion and care that families experience at Family House. With a Fozzy dog placed on every bed, guests learn about Family House and get to take home their own stuffed Fozzy with a donation.

Now we're expanding to Hyatt Regency SF Soma, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

When families are navigating treatment, moments of joy, normalcy, and togetherness make all the difference. Our Back to School celebration was a great reminder of that. 💙 🎒🍎

Thanks to the generosity of BridgeBio Oncology Therapeutics, and the dedication of our staff, our families picked out fresh school supplies, played courtyard games, shared a delicious meal, and treated themselves to ice cream (because we're not ready for fall just yet!)🍦
