Hey Leaguers, we're getting some questions about the rumors from a disinformation campaign linking our candidate Connie Chan to AIPAC money so we wanted to weigh in.
First, Connie Chan has a strong track record of being pro-Palestine, and we see nothing that changes that. Connie has repeatedly and consistently condemned Israel for the genocide in Gaza, voted for the SF ceasefire resolution pledged to be an immediate sponsor of the Block the Bombs Act to stop sending weapons to Israel, and has kept her promise not to accept campaign donations from AIPAC--unlike Scott Weiner who's the real bad guy here.
Second, these allegations are extremely flimsy and conveniently timed to hurt Connie's chances just as her campaign is surging --the reporters didn't even have evidence of donations in question. The money purportedly comes from an independent expenditure committee that Connie has no control over or knowledge of. While this kind of dirty money is notoriously hard to trace, we'll know more after the June 20th filing. What is clear is that money was not given by AIPAC to Connie Chan or her campaign.
AIPAC and any of their last-minute, dark-money PACs should stay the f*ck out of San Francisco. We've got 2 days left to Get Out the Vote--let's do this.
