La Raza Community Resource Center

La Raza Community Resource Center La Raza helps preserve and develop the Latino community by providing appropriate resources which promote self-sufficiency and leadership.

La Raza Community Resource Center is a bilingual, multi-service, non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the social service, employment, educational, and leadership development needs of low-income families and individuals. Serving the community for 40 years, our primary focus is to address the unmet needs of Latino immigrants. The majority of La Raza participants are Spanish-speaking families

and individuals of all ages, living in the Mission District of San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, but we serve a diverse body of individuals from the vast and various ethnic groups in the community. The agency provides city wide services, and is located in Centro Del Pueblo, a newly renovated facility that houses several non-profit agencies.

This La Raza CRC service-seeker is an immigrant father, security officer, and the sole earner for his family.

Last month, he stood at the City Hall podium to share his story and fight against cuts to the nonprofits that hold families like his together.

This year, La Raza CRC faces a $660,000+ cut to funds that directly power our counseling services, which serve as a lifeline for immigrant resource access, family reunification, and housing stabilization.

Two-thirds of those affected by the City’s proposed cuts are immigrants.

We stand united with the SF People’s Budget Coalition — and we need YOU to stand with us.

Children are carrying the weight of our cruel immigration policies in detention while waiting an average of ~200 days to reunite with their families.

During that time, many are coping with PTSD, depression, and anxiety — all without a parent or loved one by their side. In these moments, having an attorney visit them to provide in‑person, trauma‑informed legal education and consultations shouldn’t be optional.

Meeting with a lawyer face‑to‑face allows a child to build trust, understand what is happening to them, and share their story in a way that feels human and supported.

You can’t build that kind of trust through a TV screen because, for a child alone in custody, presence is protection. Kids need .

We're urging SFUSD to protect the 2-semester requirement for Ethnic Studies, AND vote YES on the VOICES curriculum, an evidence-backed, community-informed program built for all San Francisco students.

Education, particularly around the stories that have directly shaped San Francisco’s diverse fabric, continue to impact the families we serve every single day.

Ethnic Studies programs have been proven to increase GPA and UC acceptance rates for SFUSD students in the past. For the families we serve, this means greater opportunities to higher education, cultural understanding, and greater success.

We're calling on SFUSD to reaffirm its commitment to the 2-semester program for Ethnic Studies, and to pass the VOICES curriculum, which centers cultural education around the diverse populations living in San Francisco.

Protect Ethnic Studies! Protect Immigrant Education!

Tag an SFUSD parent, teacher, board member, or community member who needs to see this 📣

As the fight to protect Birthright Citizenship continues in the Supreme Court, our Executive Director, Gabriel Medina, advocated for those who would be affected by it.

Birthright Citizenship was initialized to combat legal discrimination based on the nationality of a person’s parents. The president’s attacks on birthright citizenship, which is constitutionally protected, are an attack on the rights and freedoms of hundreds of thousands born to immigrant parents every year in the United States.

We stand fiercely against attacks to Birthright Citizenship, and urge the Supreme Court to fight attempts to repeal these rights.

San Francisco has been under the eyes once again of the President, who believes the City needs federal immigration officers to help lower crime.

We stand faithfully against rhetoric or actions that harm our immigrant neighbors.

As reported by the ACLU, and as stated by our Executive Director, Gabriel Medina, there is no real correlation between immigration and crime. This rhetoric only serves to amplify hatred, and we’re speaking against it.
