Case Update: The FBI, along with our partners at HHS‑OIG, investigated a major health care fraud scheme targeting Medicare Advantage Programs. Earlier this week, Sevindik Huseynov, a foreign national, pleaded guilty to submitting millions of dollars in fraudulent claims through a sham medical equipment company.
Huseynov admitted to seeking more than $137 million in reimbursements for equipment that was never provided, not medically necessary, and not authorized by doctors. He received over $2.8 million, which he deposited and transferred overseas before his arrest in June 2025.
Huseynov remains in federal custody. Sentencing is scheduled for February 2, 2027. Read more: https://ow.ly/hegM50ZMpqM

SF Case Update: The founder and CEO of Pacific Private Money, Mark Hanf, and the company’s COO, Nam Phan, have been charged with wire fraud conspiracy tied to a multi‑year scheme that raised more than $100 million from over 175 investors. Both executives allegedly misled investors about the financial condition of Pacific Private Money, concealed significant losses starting as early as 2021, and used new investor funds to pay earlier investors—turning the enterprise into a Ponzi scheme. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2026.

SF Case Update: A Russian national has been indicted for using a freelance-employment platform to distribute malware to approximately 80,000 users. Prosecutors allege that Searzhudin Tamirlanovich Aktulaev created 255 fraudulent accounts to send messages with malicious attachments, enabling him and his co-conspirators to harvest stolen data for fraud and other criminal activity.
Aktulaev was arrested in Cyprus in May 2025 and extradited to the United States last Friday. Aktulaev is next scheduled to appear in district court on October 5, Read more: https://ow.ly/cxv250ZIvqP

Case Update: An Australian man has been indicted for his alleged role in the “TeamPCP” cyberattacks targeting the software supply chain. A federal grand jury charged Ruben Ian Thomson, 21, with conspiring to exploit trusted security tools by injecting malicious code that impacted companies and their downstream customers. The malware allegedly searched for and stole sensitive data, enabled persistent access, and was used to extort victims.
Thomson was arrested yesterday by the Australian Federal Police with the assistance of the FBI, and he is currently in the custody of the Australian authorities. This case is being investigated by FBI San Francisco and FBI Las Vegas. Read more: https://ow.ly/Sj7U50ZGmzB

Today, the FBI announced Voices Not Forgotten, a new initiative dedicated to increasing investigative leads in unsolved violent crime cases in Indian country. Speaking to more than 200 Tribal law enforcement partners, brought national attention to cases where federal, state, local, and Tribal agencies are seeking the public’s help. On the new Voices Not Forgotten webpage, the public can use a searchable and interactive map that links posters seeking information about violent crimes Tribal communities have endured.

This initiative includes:
• A minimum reward of up to $25,000 for all publicly advertised cases under FBI jurisdiction.
• Expanded visibility for investigations in Indian country.

San Francisco joined our federal and local partners today at a press conference announcing the results of Operation Disarm, a coordinated violent‑crime and fi****ms enforcement surge in .
From March–July 2026, this joint initiative led to the seizure of 76 illegally possessed fi****ms and federal charges against 51 defendants.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Scott Schelble emphasized that federal, state, and local teamwork made these results possible and that we remain committed to intelligence‑driven enforcement and protecting the people of Oakland.
We will continue working side‑by‑side with our partners to reduce violence and keep our communities safe.
