BRING BACK ALGEBRA I
SF's 8th graders cannot take Algebra I in school -- making it harder for kids who want STEM careers.

Background:
San Francisco's 8th graders have not been allowed to take Algebra I for nearly a decade.
This means that kids who want STEM careers have to cram 5 years of advanced math into just 4 years.

Otherwise, their kids struggle through the tough "compression class" -- learning Algebra 2 and Pre-calculus in one class period. This class skips many pre-calculus topics and is not UC accredited as pre-calculus.

This puts SF's children at a disadvantage compared to kids down the peninsula, who can take Algebra I in 7th or 8th grade.
