GASA GASA’s target population lacks access to resources needed to break the cycle of poverty, violent crime, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS and other STD’s.

GASA views young girls as the key intervention point in this cycle—their strength and resilience in providing for their families and keeping them safe gives them tremendous influence over the outcomes of the next generation. To that end, GASA provides services, education, and facilitates resources that nurture five key areas of these girls’ lives: academic enhancement, economic development, leader

ship, wellness, and gender and ethnic pride. GASA encourages the notion of "giving back”. Each program area is based upon the principles of Kwanzaa, which are embedded in GASA’s youth development model. GASA facilitates educational and cultural activities for predominately African American girls. GASA girls experience learning in three developmentally age appropriate groups: “Twinkling Stars” (6 - 13 years old); “Shinning Stars” (14 – 15 years old) and “Brilliant Stars” (16 to 24 years old).
