City of San Elizario

City of San Elizario Welcome to the official page of the City of San Elizario! We are excited to be the newest city with the oldest history in the state of Texas.

In November 2013, the residents of San Elizario, Texas in El Paso County, voted to incorporate the historic town. The roots of San Elizario go back to 1598 and it was the first county seat of El Paso County in 1850. But not since 1921 has San Elizario officially been a municipality. In May 2014, the first government was voted into office and since then, they have worked to build a strong foundatio

n for the new city. It is important to the residents of San Elizario to preserve the history--which includes an agricultural way of life, while at the same time focusing on building a sustainable future and creating a model city for the Paso del Norte region. We welcome you to spend some time on our page, get to know us... And better yet, take a drive down the historic El Paso Mission Trail and experience a taste of our hospitality.
