Upgrades are coming to the Clairemont Pool! 🏊

The City is working hard to complete the ongoing renovation project at the Clairemont Pool so that the facility can reopen as quickly as possible. Significant improvements have already been completed, including replacement of the pool deck, new pool tile, lighting and electrical upgrades, a new boiler, and installation of the permanent fence posts.

Remaining fencing work is moving forward, and once complete, final plaster will follow, along with installation of the new pump and filtration system.

The City is focused on completing the project and getting the Clairemont community back in the water as soon as possible. Clairemont Pool is currently anticipated to reopen in Spring 2027.

Residents can get ongoing project information on a dedicated Clairemont Pool Renovations webpage sandiego.gov/pools/clairemont-pool/renovations.

A portion of Texas Street through University Heights is new and improved! Construction crews recently completed an asphalt overlay, removing the old, broken road surface and laying down new, fresh asphalt. Temporary lane markers are in place while the street cures. Crews will return to paint permanent striping, completing the overlay process.

Our effort to expand public access to electric vehicle (EV) chargers in every community is underway! New EV chargers are being installed at the Paradise Hills Recreation Center. It’s the first of more than 50 new EV charger installation projects taking place at libraries and recreation centers across the city over the next 18 months. The Public Electric Vehicle Charging Program (PEVCP) will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and implement goals set forth in the Climate Action Plan.

Due to construction, a portion of the Paradise Hills Recreation Center parking lot will be closed through October. Once complete, the fencing will be removed and the chargers will be opened for public use. Similar impacts are expected at future project sites.

For more information on the PEVCP, visit sandiego.gov/pevcp

The City’s Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport will remain temporarily closed to fixed-wing traffic due to Monday’s event while the airport assists the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board with their investigations.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those impacted.

Did you know your toilet, shower, laundry and kitchen sinks all go through our wastewater pump stations?

Our Public Utilities crews clean out wet wells and pumps a few times a week to keep systems moving, but it is up to everyone to keep trash out of the toilet. This includes "flushable" wipes, which take too long to break down and should be tossed in trash cans to avoid damage to household plumbing and our sewer system.

When in doubt, throw it out. Thank you for doing your part! More information: sandiego.gov/public-utilities/customer-support/do-not-flush
