🇺🇸🇯🇵San Diego and Yokosuka share a special connection: We are both proud Navy communities.

Today, I visited Yokosuka Naval Base, home to thousands of American service members and a critical part of the longstanding alliance between the United States and Japan.

As Mayor of one of America’s largest military cities, it was meaningful to spend time with the sailors and leaders serving here and see firsthand the important work they do every day.

San Diego is proud of the men and women who serve our country - whether they’re stationed at home or around the world.

Thank you for your service and for representing our country with honor.

San Diego is a global city, and our relationships around the world make us stronger at home.

For 70 years, San Diego and Yokohama, Japan have shared one of the longest-standing sister city partnerships in the world - exchanging ideas, strengthening economic ties, and building connections between our people.

Seventy years of partnership is something worth celebrating. Today I presented the City Council President of Yokohama with a Key to the City of San Diego as we honor everything our cities have built together and look ahead to the next chapter of our partnership. 🇺🇸🤝🇯🇵

From first responders to teachers, nurses, builders, and service workers, San Diego was built by working people.

Today, we celebrate the contributions that working people have made to our City and recommit to building a San Diego where every worker is respected, valued, and supported.

🏡We need more homes San Diegans can afford – and we’re putting another $15 million toward getting them built.

Through Bridge to Home, the City of San Diego helps affordable housing projects close funding gaps so they can move from plans to construction.

Since 2021, this program has helped advance nearly 3,000 affordable homes across San Diego, including homes with supportive services for people experiencing homelessness.

We’re using every tool available to build more homes and make San Diego more affordable for working people and families.

Operation Last Call launched over the weekend with additional San Diego Police Department officers stationed in the Gaslamp Quarter to make the neighborhood safer for all who come to enjoy it.

Our message is simple: Violence has no place in Gaslamp.

Thank you to all the police officers and first responders who are working to keep the Gaslamp safe for residents, businesses, and visitors.
