Join us in Julian on Saturday, September 26, 2026, for the Unincorporated San Diego Residential Cleanup Event at the Julian Library/High School (1850 CA-78, Julian, CA 92036) from 8am – 12pm or until capacity is reached.

The event will have FREE mulch available and paper shredding. This event is open to Unincorporated San Diego County residents only.

The following items will be accepted:
- Bulky items (furniture, broken appliances, etc.)
- Recyclable materials (cardboard, aluminum, hard plastic, glass)
- Green waste
- Mattresses and box springs
- Scrap metal
- Tires: Up to 9 passenger tires per vehicle. Please call 1-877-713-2784 to request preapproval for loads of more than 9 tires. No tires with rims will be accepted. No tires from businesses.

The following items will NOT be accepted:
- Household Hazardous Waste (batteries, paint, chemicals, lightbulbs, car oil/antifreeze, household cleaners, etc.)
- Construction Materials
- Business Waste

Fix your broken items for free and learn new skills! Join the San Diego County Rancho Santa Fe Library on Saturday, September 12, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Bring your broken, non-functioning things: electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, etc. for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair.

We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. Whether we fix it or not, you’ll learn more about how it was manufactured and how it worked while trusting it won’t end up in a landfill.

Bring the whole family and learn to fix your stuff together!

Republic Services is offering FREE COMPOST to all their customers on Saturday, September 12 from 8am – 12pm at Otay Sustainability Park (1700 Maxwell Rd., Chula Vista, CA 91911). It’s the perfect time to get your farms and gardens ready for the fall season!

All Republic customers residing in the City of Chula Vista, City of San Diego, and County of San Diego are welcome! Come prepared with your shovels, tarps, containers, and other equipment to pick up as much compost as you’d like!🥳

To participate, please provide proof of active Republic account ownership in the form of an invoice or online app documentation, as well as a photo ID.

Quick Refresher: Recyclables must be EMPTY, DRY, and LOOSE when put into the blue bin. Food and yard waste? 👉 Put yard waste in the green bin first, then food waste (OK to bag in paper) on top.
