USS Somerset (LPD 25) Ombudsman Welcome to the Official USS Somerset [LPD25] Family Ombudsman Page! An Ombudsman is an official representative of the Commanding Officer.

A Navy Ombudsman is a trained volunteer appointed by the Commanding Officer to serve as a liasion between command and its families. The USS Somerset (LPD 25) Ombudsman is a trained volunteer military spouse who serves as a communications link for all family members – spouses, parents and extended family members. He/she plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining current and accurate communi

cation between the command and it's family members. As well as providing resources in a time of need. The Ombudsman Code of Ethics guarantees support of the command’s mission, professionalism and confidentiality, within program guidelines. An Ombudsman is required to report:

1. Potential or attempted su***de

2. Suspected and established child abuse and/or neglect

3. Suspected and established spouse abuse, drug and/or alcohol abuse

4. Potential homicide or violent life threatening behavior

5. Any suspected sexual abuse by a Uniformed Service Member

6. Everything else the Commanding Officer sees necessary to know

Following the official Change of Command ceremony today, CAPTAIN ANDREW B. KOY, USN shared a final parting message dedicated entirely to our Somerset families. 🤍

His letter beautifully highlights the "quiet force" behind our crew—our families. He reflects on the incredible resilience of our Navy loved ones over his two-year tour, acknowledging that the ship’s success always starts at home.
