Due to the extreme heat expected Thursday, September 10, 2026, Hoover High School will operate on a modified school day. The modified school day will run from 8:35 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. A grab-and-go lunch will be provided at 12:35 p.m. for students to take with them.
Students who need or prefer to remain on campus after the modified day will be able to stay through our regular dismissal time of 3:35 p.m. We will provide supervised, air-conditioned cool zones and learning/study spaces for these students.

The City Heights Youth Career & Resource Fair is on September 12th! This is a great opportunity to explore career options, planning for college, or connecting with community resources.
There will be local employers, colleges and training programs, scholarship opportunities, trades and career pathways, public safety, healthcare, financial education, and community & youth-serving organizations that you can meet.

The new Hoover student editors of our school news have put together the first online edition of the 2026/2027 school year! This past summer, Hoover's 2026 yearbook, Our Never Ending Journ!ey, took home a first place ribbon at the annual San Diego County Fair. Hoover's news website, The Cardinal, took home Best in Show for online newspapers. Congratulations Hoover Cardinals!

First "Coffee with the Principal" this year is this Thursday, August 27 from 4:45-5:45pm and Friday August 28 from 9:00-10:00am Location: Hoover Parent Center. Join us for an informal get-together with the Principal, parents and other family members. These meet ups are a great opportunity to engage in informal conversations that can help you stay connected and learn more about Hoover High School.

Cardinals, Hoover High School photos are coming up this Thursday and Friday (August 20 & 21) for school ID and yearbook photo. Senior portraits are scheduled for next week, Wednesday, August 26th. As an FYI, we have switched from Lifetouch to Jostens for our school photos this year.
