We often think about using coping tools after we’re already overwhelmed.

But you don’t have to wait until your stress is a 9 or 10.

If you know you have a difficult conversation coming up, an appointment you’re worried about, a presentation to give, or even a particularly demanding day ahead, take a few minutes beforehand to notice what you’re feeling.

Where is your intensity right now?

If you’re familiar with TFT, this can be a good time to use the tapping techniques you’ve learned and then reassess how you feel.

The goal isn’t necessarily to eliminate every uncomfortable feeling.

Sometimes it’s simply to lower the intensity enough that you can walk into the situation feeling a little more settled and able to respond to what’s actually happening.

TFT doesn’t have to be reserved for a crisis. These tools can become part of how you navigate the ordinary stresses of everyday life.

If you’ve been curious about Thought Field Therapy but aren’t sure where to begin, the foundational algorithms are a great place to start.

On October 24–25, I’ll be teaching a live virtual workshop focused on helping you understand and confidently use the core TFT algorithms.

We’ll spend our time together looking at more than tapping sequences. You’ll learn how to identify the appropriate algorithm for a presenting concern, measure emotional intensity, evaluate progress, and recognize when additional TFT procedures may be needed.

And because TFT is best learned through experience, we’ll have plenty of opportunities for live demonstrations, guided practice, questions, and real-world application.

Whether you’re a helping professional interested in adding TFT to your toolkit or you’d like to learn these techniques for your own emotional well-being, you’re welcome to join us.

Stress has a way of sneaking up on us.

You may not notice how tense you’ve become until your shoulders are tight, your thoughts are racing, or you realize you’ve been carrying the same worry around for hours.

One simple practice I encourage is to check in with yourself before the stress takes over.

Pause for a moment and ask: How intense is what I’m feeling right now?

Give it a number from 0–10.

You don’t have to analyze it or figure out why you feel that way.

Simply noticing and measuring the intensity gives you a starting point.

If you use TFT, you can then tap and check the number again afterward.

Sometimes the change is significant. Sometimes it’s small. Either way, you’re paying attention to what is happening in your body and emotional state rather than simply pushing through it.

That kind of awareness can be useful well beyond a TFT session.

One of the biggest barriers I see when people are learning a new therapeutic approach is the belief that they need to know everything before they can use anything.

You don’t.

With Thought Field Therapy, confidence develops through understanding the fundamentals and then practicing them.

The algorithms provide a useful framework because they give you a clear place to begin. You can learn the sequence, observe the response, measure what changes, and pay attention to what happens next.

And sometimes, the initial approach won’t fully resolve the distress.
That isn’t necessarily a failure. It’s information.

Learning to notice those moments, ask the right questions, and determine what may be needed next is part of developing skill with TFT.

Good clinical judgment isn’t built overnight. It develops through a combination of knowledge, practice, curiosity, and experience.
Start with the fundamentals. Then keep building.

If you’re new to Thought Field Therapy, one of the best places to begin is with the foundational algorithms.

On October 24–25, I’ll be teaching a live virtual workshop designed to help you understand not just the TFT tapping sequences, but the clinical thinking behind them.

We’ll cover how to choose the appropriate algorithm, measure progress, recognize when additional interventions may be needed, and apply what you’re learning through live demonstrations and guided practice.

Whether you’re new to TFT or looking to strengthen your existing skills, this workshop will help you build a solid foundation and greater confidence using the algorithms.

Registration will be opening soon.
