Think Blue San Diego

Think Blue San Diego is the educational outreach arm of the ’s Stormwater Department.

The City of San Diego’s Stormwater Department works in all weather conditions to build, maintain and modernize efficient stormwater infrastructure that lays the foundation for safe, sustainable and thriving San Diego communities. This is achieved by safeguarding water quality, reducing pollution and the risk of flooding, pursuing the use of stormwater to enhance water supplies, and protecting and

restoring natural habitats and recreation areas. The Stormwater Department oversees the operation and maintenance of the City’s storm drain system – a massive, largely hidden infrastructure that is critical to San Diego’s quality of life – which includes 43,000 storm drains, 956 miles of pipes, 73 miles of channels, 15 pump stations and 500 major outfalls.

Summer is officially here! ☀️🏖️

To draining a pool, spa or fountain into a storm drain, is only allowed if it meets these requirements:
✔ pH between 7–8
✔ Dechlorinated & chemical-free
✔ Clear debris from storm drain pathways
✔ Ambient temperature water
✔ Use water for irrigation when possible

These steps help keep harmful pollutants out of our waterways.
