The Visitory Control Center at Naval Air Station North Island will be open this weekend for DBIDS and SWIFTLANE Registration, Saturday and Sunday from 0800 - 1300.

Shipmates, let’s make May 21st a day to ditch the car and ride our bikes whenever possible. Whether you’re heading to work, the gym, the exchange, or just around town, biking is a simple way to improve readiness, save money, and support a healthier lifestyle.
Cycling builds endurance, reduces stress, and keeps us mission-ready while also helping reduce traffic and emissions around base and in our communities. Even a short ride can make a difference.
Challenge yourself and encourage your fellow sailors to participate:�• Ride to work or around base�• Form small group rides with your shop or division�• Wear proper safety gear and stay visible�• Share your ride and motivate others to join in
Every mile ridden is a step toward better fitness, stronger resilience, and a cleaner environment.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Kurt Busch

NASCAR Hall of Famer Kurt Busch visited Naval Air Station North Island Galley to sign autographs and engage with Sailors. Busch is recognized as one of the 75 greatest drivers in NASCAR history, with 34 NASCAR Cup Series race wins, including the 2004 Cup Series Championship and the Daytona 500. The visit provided Sailors an opportunity to meet the renowned driver, obtain signed memorabilia, and take photographs. This engagement reflects growing excitement for the NASCAR events coming to Naval Base Coronado in June 2026.

SAPR Sand Castle Competition
Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) concluded on Wednesday with the Installation’s Annual SAPR Sandcastle Competition. Commands gathered on Breakers Beach to construct Sandcastles around the month’s theme “STEP FORWARD. Prevent. Report. Advocate”.

The winning Sandcastle was constructed by a team from Fleet and Family Support Center, who will get to display their trophy throughout the year ahead.

CAPT Jacobi also presented the 2025 Unit Victim Advocate of the Year Award to IT2 Shane Wilder, from CVN71.

Thank you to all who participated in this month’s SAAPM events and to the Unit Victim Advocates who provide ongoing support to our Sailors and their families.

Today is the LAST DAY to register to receive your race number in the mail, free of charge! April 30th by 11:59PM.

If you register after April 30th, you may pick up your race number and t-shirt at packet pickup on Saturday.

Saturday, May 16th from 9:30am - 2:30pm

If you decide to pick up your race number the morning of the event, you will find the registration tent at the START LINE to grab your bib. T-Shirts will be located at the FINISH LINE.
