Update: The City of Coronado and local emergency management partners were unable to determine the source of the odor. The odor has since dissipated, although it appeared to be shifting locations with the wind. There is no further concern at this time. We will continue to monitor and notify the community if anything changes.

The City of Coronado is currently investigating a possible fuel odor and evaluating the situation to determine the source. At this time, there is no need to take any precautions.

Traffic Advisory: Bridge Barrier Machine

The City has been informed that the Caltrans Bridge Barrier Transfer Machine is experiencing mechanical issues. The machine was moved into the afternoon configuration today, but it will not be able to move at 4 a.m. tomorrow morning as scheduled.

As a result, the bridge will remain configured with two lanes into Coronado and three lanes out of Coronado, which will cause increased traffic impacts during the morning commute.

Repairs to the barrier machine are currently underway. We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.

Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for your morning commute. Thank you for your patience and drive safe.

Heads up Coronado!

Traffic units from across the county will be assisting us with traffic related issues THIS Wednesday. This means we combine our efforts with other law enforcement agencies to increase roadway safety. The goal of the enhanced enforcement day is to save lives and make it safer for all who travel on San Diego County roadways.

We also need YOUR help keeping our community safe. So please slow down, put the phone down, turn the music down and !

This year marks the 33rd year where members of law enforcement agencies throughout San Diego County will take part in Shop with a Cop. This program enables over 300 underserved youth with the chance to shop for gifts, clothing, or educational items using a Target gift card during the holiday season. Prior to shopping with an officer, each child is treated to breakfast and a show at Sea World San Diego. The children and their officers participate in a procession from Sea World to a Target Store. The children share a positive experience with law enforcement, and it affords the participating officers an opportunity to better know the community that they serve by making connections with local youth.

Help us make this year’s Shop with a Cop another memorable one! The Coronado Police Department and San Diego County District Attorney’s Office are hosting a BBQ Fundraiser to help support this year’s event. Every contribution helps us bring a little more holiday magic to deserving children in our community.
