Did you know that July 7th is Patricia Schaelchlin Day?

Patricia Schaelchlin was a local La Jolla historian and former President of the Friends of the La Jolla Library. During the research of her definitive history, La Jolla: The Story of a Community (1887-1987), she collected a library of local La Jolla history, as well as books, maps, and other materials. She donated this collection to the La Jolla Library as well as funds to construct the library’s Local History Room located on the upper level.

In honor of Patricia Schaelchlin Day, enter to Win a Copy of “La Jolla: The Story of a Community (1887-1987).”

- Write your name and contact information on the back of the card

- Submit completed BINGO Card inside the collection box

One entry per adult. Ends July 31st. 11 winners will be contacted the beginning of August.

Youth ages 13-18 are invited to join us for a 3-part Socratic Lab series!

June 23, 24 & 26 at 2pm at the La Jolla/Riford Library.

This three-part series is designed for middle school grade ages and up who are interested in honors or AP-level inquiry. Using the Socratic method, we move away from rote memorization and toward the collaborative problem-solving style used in elite university seminars. We will cover topics in Network Theory and Geometric Constraints through a "zero-lecture" approach.
