Each week students leave camp with a greater understanding of science and the environment, as well as memories that will last a lifetime. Transformational experiences for students go far beyond the classroom. Supporting physical health, mental health, and overall well-being is essential, and something as simple as clear vision can make a life-changing difference.

Each year, SDCOE partners with VSP Eyes of Hope to bring eye care directly to students in Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS). VSP brings the exam room to our schools to provide students with the care they need, at no cost.

With the help of volunteer optometrists, students receive comprehensive eye exams, select frames, and often walk away with new glasses the same day or receive them in a few weeks.

For more than a decade, this partnership has helped break down barriers to eye care, ensuring students have the tools they need to see clearly and thrive.
