Dear City College Students, Faculty, and Classified Professionals:
We are writing to share an update about law enforcement activity that occurred near campus this morning.
City College received confirmed reports that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were near 16th and C Street and pursued an individual onto campus. The individual was apprehended. ICE has since left the area, and there is no ongoing activity on campus at this time.
We want to be clear: San Diego City College, the San Diego Community College District, and District Police do not participate in, assist with, or coordinate ICE enforcement activities. This is required under California law (Government Code section 7284 and Education Code section 66093) and has been longstanding District policy since 2019 under Administrative Procedure AP 3415 (https://www.sdccd.edu/docs/District/procedures/General%20Institution/AP%203415.pdf), Non-Participation in Immigration Enforcement Activities; Immigration Status Security.
