While we were excited to share information about our annual walk, one of the most inspiring moments was hearing from our volunteer and SDCB graduate Daniel, who shared his journey of sudden vision loss.

Daniel's story is a powerful reminder that vision loss can happen to anyone, at any age, and often without warning. Through determination, support, and rehabilitation services, he has continued to live an EXTREMELY active and independent life while giving back to others facing similar challenges.

Recently, Daniel completed the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon without stopping, guided every step of the way by his wife, Chelsea. Together, they demonstrated the power of perseverance, partnership, and the belief that vision loss does not have to limit what's possible.

Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your story, dedicating your time, talent and wisdom - inspiring our community, and showing others that with the right support, people can continue pursuing their goals and living life to the fullest.

Every step has a story. 💙

At this year’s Strides for Sight, we asked one simple question: “Why do you walk?”
The answers were powerful, personal, heartfelt, and a reminder of what this community is all about.

From lived experiences to supporting loved ones and building a more accessible future, this walk means something different to everyone — and that’s what makes it so special.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their story, and walked beside us. 👣
