The South Bay Senior Service Providers is a professional networking group for those working with older adults. At their June breakfast, we presented on Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and brain health. We also shared resources including our 24/7 Helpline, education programs, and support groups.

We’re always seeking opportunities to raise awareness. Thank you to Jean Vaccaro and Ronda Fuentes for their leadership, and to Bryan Devore for the great photo.

This week, more than 1,000 advocates from across the country gathered in Washington, DC for the Alzheimer’s Association Advocacy Forum.

Together, we met with lawmakers to advocate for continued progress in the fight against Alzheimer’s, including support for the ASAP Act, funding for the NIH and CDC, and the ADAPT Act to expand provider education and training.

We are at a pivotal moment in Alzheimer’s research, treatment, and early detection. Advocacy matters and we are grateful to stand alongside advocates from across the nation to raise our voices for the millions of families impacted by this disease.

Thank you to our San Diego advocates Paula Lemkuil, Julia Cheng, Lizbeth Franco, Elaine Leonard, and Alison Shea for traveling to join us this year.

Participants also learned about the fundamentals of brain health, and how everyday habits and lifestyle choices can help reduce risk and support cognitive well-being.
