Chicano Federation of San Diego County

Chicano Federation of San Diego County Our mission is to cultivate opportunities and advocate for families and individuals for a more equitable comunidad.

For more than 50 years, Barrio Station has been a second home to countless young people and families.

It is a place shaped by leaders, advocates, coaches, volunteers, and people who believed in the power of a comunidad unida.

It is a place filled with stories.

Stories of kids who found confidence in the boxing ring. Families who found support when they needed it most. Elders who watched young people grow into parents and leaders. A place whose impact can still be felt throughout Barrio Logan and beyond.

For decades, Barrio Station and Chicano Federation have worked side by side in service of our people. We have shared partnerships, housing, programs, and a belief that everyone deserves spaces where they can belong, grow, and reach their full potential.

Today, we are honored to announce that Barrio Station has entered a new chapter as part of the Chicano Federation familia.

This chapter is built on a long-standing relationship, a shared commitment to the people we serve, and a belief that what has been built here over the last five decades is worth carrying forward.

As we work to restore and revitalize this historic space, we remain committed to honoring its history, listening deeply, and creating a place where youth, families, elders, and partners can gather, organize, heal, celebrate, and dream.

But there is still work to do. Restoring Barrio Station will take all of us.

If you believe in the power of spaces like this, we invite you to be part of what comes next. 🙏❤️‍🔥

When our comunidades face real challenges, the people in this room choose to respond. 💪🏽

Behind every seat filled, every conversation sparked, and every moment that moved us — there were partners who said YES before the room was even set up. Who show up for our comunidad not just on the day of, but throughout the year! 🙏

Swipe to meet the sponsors who made this year’s Unity Luncheon possible, and whose investment goes far beyond one afternoon.

We are deeply grateful. Mil gracias de corazón. ❤️‍🔥

We’re still smiling!✨

From the conversations at the tables to the vision we shared from the stage, one thing was clear:

CommUNITY is our greatest strength🩷

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2026 Unity Luncheon! 🩷

We are incredibly grateful for this growing network of advocates, partners, volunteers, donors, and community leaders who show up with generosity, conviction, and corazón. People from all walks of life and across generations who understand that lasting change is something we build together. Gracias.

We reflected on the power of comunidad, celebrated the extraordinary legacy of Ms. Rachael Ortiz, and shared an exciting new chapter: Chicano Federation’s union with Barrio Station.

For over 55 years, Barrio Station has been a place where young people found mentorship, families found support, and community found connection. Today, we have the honor of helping carry that history forward while expanding what is possible for future generations.

This year’s theme, From Moment to Movement, reminded us that meaningful change happens when people recognize their power and choose to use it in service of others.

The momentum is real. The work continues. And we’re just getting started.

We are holding the Islamic Center of San Diego and the families impacted by this horrific act of violence close to our hearts.

Yesterday’s attack is devastating. And it does not exist in a vacuum.

For years, Muslim communities across this country have faced growing threats, harassment, and Islamophobic rhetoric that continues to fuel fear, division, and violence.

The Islamic Center is not only a place of worship, but also a space where children learn, families gather, and connections are built. An attack meant to terrorize one community is a threat to all of us.

Everyone deserves to exist, gather, and worship without fear. As an organization committed to justice and collective care, Chicano Federation stands in solidarity with our Muslim neighbors in grief, care, and action.

We encourage those who are able to support the families impacted to visit 🔗ICSD.ORG or the Instagram page to find their donation links.

We condemn Islamophobia and will continue to speak out against racism, hate, and violence in all its forms. In moments like these, we must choose love over fear, humanity over hatred, and unity over silence.

Child care providers and early childhood professionals make so much possible.🙏

They are educators, caregivers, and small business owners, creating safe, nurturing spaces where children can build confidence, develop skills for school, and feel supported as they grow.

Today, we are highlighting at-home child care providers and the incredible role they play in our comunidades.

As we continue facing child care shortages, at-home providers help fill critical gaps in care and make it possible for local economies to keep moving. Their work gives parents the ability to work and provide. It creates stability for entire families.

Today and every day, we celebrate all childcare providers who show up with patience, care, and commitment for our children and families.

Happy Child Care Provider Day 🩷!
