We love our induction cooktop. Super-fast boil time, easy clean up, heats the pan not the whole kitchen, and immediate temperature changes. Hiring an electrician to run the wire cost money, so it is good to see a rebate program.

Interested in potential City of San Carlos code changes to begin electrification of gas equipment in existing homes? Participate in tonight’s City Council meeting to discuss the issue.

The San Carlos City Council will meet on Monday, January 23 at City Hall - 600 Elm Street, for their Regular Meeting beginning at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers. Members of the public are welcome to observe the meeting and address the City Council in-person and remotely via Zoom.

Items on the agenda include, but are not limited to:

➡️Recognize January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month
➡️Recognize Community Volunteer John Durkin
➡️Consider 703 Knoll Drive Project Appeal
➡️Consider Updates to the General Plan, Housing Element and Zoning Ordinance

Green Homes Tour – Sept. 24

The Campaign for Fossil Free Buildings in Silicon Valley and Project Green Home are offering a Green Home Tour of 20 climate-friendly homes in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties on Saturday, September 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On the tour, you’ll be able to talk with homeowners about how they chose energy-efficient, electric water heaters, home heating, dryers, induction cooktops, and more. You’ll learn about the cost and rebates and how to decide whether to select a contractor or do it yourself.

The tour is free, but visitors must register in advance to receive the specific addresses of homes. Seven of the homes are in San Mateo County in San Carlos, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Millbrae, San Mateo, and Woodside.

Community members can review and directly comment on the suggested routes to school map, which details proposed safety improvements for routes to Arundel, Heather, White Oaks, Arroyo, Central, Brittan Acres, Tierra Linda, Mariposa, and San Carlos Charter.

On June 2 at 12 p.m. attend a free virtual tour of award-winning electric homes hosted by Peninsula Clean Energy. Tune-in while San Mateo County residents give a virtual tour of their homes and talk about why they chose to electrify instead of using methane gas (also known as natural gas). These homeowners -- including a couple from San Carlos -- will share their journey, including challenges, solutions, results, and tips.
