Welcome, Alysha Thomas, to the team! Alysha is one of our newer Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Interns here at CARE Counselors. Here is some information from Alysha about herself:

"I am an advocate for mental wellness, working towards destigmatizing mental illness in Black communities, and normalizing it to the same standard as physical health. With change being a natural part of life, we are sometimes unable to minimize negative outcomes and generate new solutions. My approach will provide you with support, understanding, and an outlet to collaborate on opportunities for growth and healing.

As a Black woman I was taught at an early age that therapy was not for me, yet I have grown to appreciate the value through my own experiences, and encourage others to engage in this important process. I believe in prayer, but I also believe that God provided me with this gift for assisting others in their time of need.

I would describe myself as empathic, respectful, collaborative and optimistic. Honesty is a valuable part of relationships and positively contributes to our overall wellbeing. I am open to exploring challenges and providing you with the best care I possibly can. Life isnโ€™t always easy, but together we will make it through."

Alysha's theoretical approaches include Social Constructionism, Family Systems, Human Validation, and Experiential Therapy. She is currently accepting new clients. Feel free to call her directly at 909-554-3806.

Welcome, Jenae Torres, to our team! Jenae has been with us for three months and has added great value to our clinic. She is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern here at CARE Counselors. Here is some information from Jenae about herself, her interests, and experience working with clients:

"I strongly believe that people are naturally capable of growth, and I consider it my privilege to provide tools and support along the way. I have genuine compassion for people and this underlies my therapeutic work with individuals, couples, and families. I strive to create safety and trust in every therapeutic session I am part of. I provide a space for exploration, whether that be of emotions, behaviors, or relationships.

I was trained in an inpatient hospital setting where I worked with numerous children, adolescents, and families as they navigated crisis situations like suicidal thoughts, self-harming, and su***de attempts. I have worked with people at some of the most emotionally intense times in their lives, and have seen them come through it even stronger.

I remain passionate about helping children, adolescents, and their families learn new ways to connect with one another. I am most experienced working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, conflictual relationships, stress, substance abuse, and behavioral issues.
I typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy."

Jenae is currently taking new clients. If you or someone you know is interested in therapy and you feel she would be a good fit, please call our clinic at 909-890-4466 to set up an appointment. Welcome again, Jenae!

Welcome, Catherine Kelly to the team! Catherine is one of our new Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Interns here at CARE Counselors. Here is some information from Catherine about herself:

"I am very passionate about being a therapist and about each individual, couple, and family that I work with. I have a genuine love of helping others that inspires the therapeutic work that I do every day. I highly value the sacred relationship between therapist and client, therefore in every session I commit to emphasizing genuineness, compassion, safety, and trust. For me, seeing the growth of each person I work with is highly rewarding and is what keeps me grounded in this field.

Most of my therapeutic career has been spent working with the severely mentally ill population in an inpatient hospital setting, which I really enjoyed. I have worked mainly with children and adolescents who have been struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation stemming from family issues and traumatic events in their past. Because of my experiences working at the Loma Linda Behavioral Medicine Center, my favorite populations to work with are children and adolescents, foster youth and their families, couples, and individuals who have experienced some sort of trauma."

Catherine's theoretic approaches to therapy include Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT), Emotionally Focused (EFT), and Gestalt Therapy.

Catherine is currently taking new clients. Please call our office for more info at 909-890-4466. Welcome again, Catherine!
