We operate the Big Bear and Devore Animal Shelters to provide services for Big Bear Lake, Highland, Yucaipa, and all the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County, except for the West End unincorporated communities (West of I-15, South of Mt. Our field services include rescuing lost and injured pets, animal cruelty investigations, disaster assistance, and outreach to the community. Tonight’s Wings of Rescue flight carries 31 dogs—our largest transport yet. After sending 18 dogs on our last flight and 46 across the first five, watching this one grow to 31 feels incredibly meaningful. These numbers aren’t just statistics; they represent dogs who’ve waited, dogs who’ve overcome setbacks, and dogs who finally have a path forward. Seeing them head out tonight is a reminder of why this work matters and how much can change for an animal in a single evening.

Most of all, this night belongs to the dogs. Some have been with us for months, some came in uncertain and have grown braver, and all of them benefit from the chance this program creates. Our partnership with Wings of Rescue makes it possible for these animals to reach places where they truly fit, and we’re proud to see them take this next step. As we send off our largest flight yet, we’re hopeful for every future waiting for them on the other side.

Animal Care Mobile Services - Licensing, Low-Cost Vaccination, and Free Microchipping!

Don't miss out on this opportunity - available while supplies last-for residents in the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County!

Services Offered:
- Free pet microchipping
- Pet ownership resources
- Dog licensing: To complete your pet's license, please provide proof of current rabies vaccination and spay/neuter for discounted pricing. If you don't have documents at the event, you'll have 60 days to submit them. Rabies vaccines are available onsite if needed.
- Vaccinations: $10 (FVRCP, Rabies, Bordetella, DA2PP, Leptospirosis). Proof of the previous rabies vaccination is required if you would like to receive a 3-year rabies vaccine instead of a 1-year vaccine.

Preregister on the event webpage-complete your intake forms in advance and skip the line on event day! Visit animalcare.sbcounty.gov or click the link in our bio to get started.

Please enter your address in our service area map at animalcare.sbcounty.gov/serviceareas/ (link in bio) to see if your pet qualifies. During the event, please bring a photo ID to verify your residency. If your photo ID isn't current, a recent utility bill can also be used as proof of residence.

Please ensure dogs are kept on a leash, and cats are brought in individual carriers.

She enjoys rolling out biscuits with a professional focus and is a catnip enthusiast who treats every sprinkle like a full sensory experience. Her treat‑testing is equally thorough—nothing gets approved without her stamp of satisfaction. Bangs may start out shy, but once she relaxes, she brings a fun and light charm that feels rather delightful.

It truly was a good day for Monet, but an adoption would make a good day every day for her.

Monet has been waiting over 50 days for someone to see what everyone at the shelter already knows—she’s an absolute gem. This three‑year‑old Plott Hound mix has a gorgeous brindle coat and an easygoing, sweet soul. She settles in quietly, loves being near her people, and has the kind of calming presence that makes any space feel like home. She enjoys toys, water, and relaxed leash walks. She’s food‑motivated, familiar with the command “sit,” and gets along beautifully with other dogs—especially those with a gentle play style. Monet also adores spending time with her brindle sister, who shares her soft nature and charm.

The Devore and Big Bear Animal Shelters will be closed to the public on Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.

Shelter staff will remain on-site to ensure all pets continue receiving the care they need during this time. Althought the shelter will be closed, pets may be viewed on our site anytime at animalcare.sbcounty.gov.

San Bernardino County Animal Care is proud to recognize and honor the hardworking individuals whose contributions strengthen our communities every day.
