Children's Fund's 38th Annual Celebration of Giving Toy Drive is here! We are asking our incredible donors, corporate partners, local businesses, and service clubs to help us show the children in our community that they are cared for during this holiday season.

On our website, childrensfund.org/cog, you will find all the resources that you need to conduct a successful toy drive for your business, school, church, or community.

No time to conduct a full drive this year? You can always make a monetary donation that is marked directly in support of the Celebration of Giving campaign. Your donation will go towards purchasing gifts for children this holiday season.

Together, we can provide gifts to foster and other vulnerable youth in our community.

For this back-to-school season, we partnered with Shiekh Shoes to support 30 high school students from the CSUSB First Star Academy, a comprehensive college-prep program serving youth in foster care.

Through the partnership, the students received gift cards to shop for a new pair of shoes at Shiekh Shoes. First Star Academy shared that the students were “extremely excited and grateful” for the experience, noting that it was about more than simply receiving new shoes.

For young people in foster care, experiences that provide choice, independence, and a sense of normalcy can be especially meaningful. We are grateful to Shiekh Shoes and the CSUSB First Star Academy for helping make this back-to-school experience one these students will remember.

Recently, we were able to assist a family who was transitioning out of homelessness. In their new space, one child was unfortunately relegated to sleeping on a mattress on the floor due to their sudden change in housing. With a request for assistance from Inland Housing Solution, we supplied the child with a new bed for him and bedding, hygiene kits, school supplies, and groceries for both him and his sister.

For nearly 10 years, the team at California Steel Industries-NUCOR has shown up, pitched in, and donated backpacks with more than just school supplies. Each year, they do so knowing they will provide kids with confidence and a positive start to the new school year. Their goal is to help as many kids start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

August 4, 1986

San Bernardino County Presiding Juvenile Court Judge Pat Morris recognizeds a critical gap in services for the children appearing before his court. He envisioned a collaborative solution, one that unites public and private sectors to meet the urgent needs of children.

With the leadership and support of Jack H. Brown, then Chairman, President, and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets, they created a nonprofit arm for the County of San Bernardino. This new entity, named First Fund of Children’s Resource, Inc., was created to bridge service gaps and provide essential resources to children in crisis.

In 1991, A. Gary Anderson joined as co-founder, helping shape the organization’s structure and long-term strategy. This pivotal moment led to our transformation into the independent nonprofit now known as Children’s Fund. For four decades, we have carried forward this legacy, working toward a brighter future for every child.

40 years later

Children’s Fund has been serving San Bernardino County children and families for 40 years. In that time, our programs and services have grown massively, impacting the lives of over 2 million children since our inception.

Since we began, we have expanded our programs to include academic and recreational scholarships, our annual Celebration of Giving Toy Drive, Project SAFE, and more. But we never forgot the original mission, to bridge the gap in services for children in our community.
