Had a great lunch meeting the other day with these wonderful people — Thies Lemke, Marc Hlavaty, and Linda Kai — they all serve Riverside County, specifically the Coachella Valley, Hemet, Lake Elsinore and Norco areas.

This is a one-week reminder that the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area will be temporarily closed to the public from August 13th through the 27th, 2026. During this time, critical military training will be conducted in the area. These exercises help ensure our Marines are prepared for any mission, anywhere in the world.

During temporary closures of the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area, the adjacent Johnson Valley OHV Recreation Area remains open for public use. Recreationists are advised to be safe and understand boundaries when recreating in the OHV area while the Shared Use Area is closed.

Please mark your calendars for all upcoming closure dates scheduled for 2026 and 2027:
August 13 – 27, 2026
February 12 – 24, 2027
August 13 – 26, 2027

Dale Dreher is a friend of mine who recently passed away. Dale was a loyal friend and the foundation of his family. Now his loved ones are facing a difficult time after his passing.
