Thank you so much for the wonderful celebration today. πŸ–€πŸ§‘ Being on campus brings me joy and is a confirmation of why our work mattersβ€”because every smile, every classroom, and every student represents possibility and purpose. Sharing breakfast with you and your amazing staff and watching our talented 3rd graders perform was truly a blessing.

I’m grateful for the dedication, heart, and excellence happening on this campus every single day. Thank you for pouring into our students and for the kindness you showed me during my visit. Angela G. Leal Elementary you truly outdid yourselves and I’m so thankful for all the heartfelt messages and gifts you showered me with today!

It is an honor to serve our SBCISD community, especially during School Board Appreciation Month. πŸ–€πŸ§‘

Today I had the honor of celebrating our incredible 8th Grade Creative Writing students as they were recognized for their submissions to the Stranger Sagas Writing Competition. Their creativity, courage, and willingness to put their voice on the page is something truly special.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Hurtado for cultivating such a strong writing culture in her classroom. The pride on her students’ faces says everything about the impact she is making daily. Watching them beam with confidence as they received their recognition filled me with hope for their futureβ€”and for the stories only they can tell.

To our students: Your words matter. Your stories matter. Keep up the amazing work!

Thank you, Riverside Middle School, for allowing me to share in such a meaningful moment. πŸ’œπŸ’›

Today, SBCISD staff welcomed the leaders of tomorrow through the doors of cafeterias across our district. While I no longer take β€œfirst day” pictures of my own, I experienced a full-circle moment this morning as I had the privilege of greeting some of our Dr. Cash Scholars. Two of my former San Benito High School students were there, now living their own β€œfirst day” memories as parents with their two sons. My prayer is that every child in our district had an amazing first day! A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Rodriguez and the wonderful staff at Dr. Cash Elementary for joyfully welcoming our students and easing those first-day jitters.

Let’s have an amazing 25-26 school year!

Welcome back, Greyhounds πŸ’œπŸ’›! While some of you have already been hard at work 😬, I want to officially welcome each of you to a brand new school year filled with opportunities for growth and success.

My hope is that every student who walks through the doors of SBCISD is challenged to grow, not only academically, but personally as well. May our classrooms, campuses, and offices be places where every child feels a sense of belonging and value.

Let’s meet our students where they are and push them to grow in ways they never thought possible. Every child deserves a champion, may you be that champion in your classroom. And know that we are here to be that same champion for you.

Let’s make 2025–2026 an amazing year together!
