Two anniversaries. One enduring commitment.

As America commemorates 250 years of independence and the U.S. Army celebrates 251 years of service to the Nation, we honor the generations of Americans who have answered the call to serve.

For more than two centuries, the Nation and its Army have advanced together through every challenge and triumph. From the founding of America and the Continental Army to today's global force, their shared history is defined by duty, sacrifice, service, and strength.

For more than two centuries, Soldiers have stood ready to defend the ideals upon which our Nation was founded. As we honor our past, we also look to the future, committed to preserving the freedoms entrusted to us.

250 years of America.
251 years of the U.S. Army.
Winning, Preserving, and Celebrating Independence.
This We'll Defend!

From civilian EMT to combat medic, Spc. Erick Brown is building a future rooted in service, discipline and lifesaving care.

Brown, a civilian Emergency Medical Technician and 68W Combat Medic Specialist with the 77th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade, earned his EMT certification through Army training and is now studying to become a paramedic with the goal of serving as a flight medic.

His story reflects the strength of Army Medicine: developing skilled medical professionals who are ready to provide care in the clinic, in the community, in the air and in combat.

Through professional growth, civilian medical experience and continued service in the Army National Guard, Brown represents the next generation of combat-ready medical talent β€” trained to respond when every second counts.

For 20 years, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Cody Edgerton was comfortable working behind the scenes.

At the 2026 Warrior Games, he's stepping into a different role, one that has challenged him in unexpected ways.

When asked who he's representing, his answer starts with his daughter and the people who have stood beside him throughout his journey. Then it takes a turn.

"For the first time in my life, I'm also representing myself."

His story isn't just about adaptive sports or competition. It's about recovery, belonging, purpose and discovering that showing yourself the same grace you've always extended to others isn't selfish at all.

It's a powerful reminder that no matter where your journey begins, it doesn't have to define where it ends.

Training together today saves lives tomorrow.

During Joint Emergency Medicine Exercise 2026 at Fort Hood, medical professionals from the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and allied partner nations trained side-by-side to strengthen combat casualty care, prolonged field care, casualty evacuation and medical interoperability.

Exercises like JEMX build the ready, adaptive medical teams needed to deliver lifesaving care in contested environments β€” whenever and wherever the mission demands.

Through realistic training and strong partnerships, Army Medicine continues to advance combat-ready care, sustain the health of the Force and support the Army’s mission to fight and win.

One team. One mission. Ready care, anywhere.
