Air Weather Reconnaissance Association (AWRA)

Air Weather Reconnaissance Association (AWRA) Fraternal military association of USAF, USAAF and USAAC weather reconnaissance personnel and their spouses. The membership year begins August 1st of each year.

The Air Weather Reconnaissance Association is incorporated as a non-profit mutual benefit organization under the laws of the State of California. It is a Veteran's organization as defined by Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)19 and Treasury Regulations 1.501(c)(19)-1. Membership in the Association is open to all current and former members of the US Armed Services who served in the US Army Air Fo

rce, and/or US Air Force, or who now serve in the US Air Force, in the capacity of aircrew members and military and civilian support personnel in organizations performing aerial weather reconnaissance and related missions. Widows of such personnel are eligible for membership without fee. Life Membership is $30.00; otherwise, annual dues are $5.00 per year. For annual membership determine amount due per the following based on the month of your application: Jun thru Nov: $5.00 for year commencing Aug 1. Dec thru March: $8.00 for the balance of the year and the next full year; Apr and May: $6.50 for the balance of the year and the next full year. No membership dues are required of surviving spouses of reconnaissance veterans. To join, download and print the membership application (PDF document), fill it out completely and mail, along with check or money order in the appropriate amount, to the AWRA Membership Chairman as indicated on the application form. You will receive confirmation by mail or E-mail as soon as your application is processed. AWRA publishes a newsletter at least annually. It normally will arrive in April or May to insure that everyone gets the latest information about the Association and the next reunion of members. AWRA also publishes a membership roster for the private, non-commercial, use of our members. This C-130B was first delivered to the USAF as 58-0731 in 1959, being converted to WC-130B for the weather service in 1970. Reverted to USAF operation as a C-130B in 1982 and donated to South Africa in 1996, where she still flies with 28 Squadron as 408.
