Bexar County will be under an Extreme Heat Warning with heat indices reaching up to 115 degrees, Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. It's important that we remember to check on our neighbors and look out for vulnerable populations. Yesterday, the Fire Marshal’s Office hosted YA Group for a specialized training on identifying patterns following lithium‑ion battery fires and cooking-related fires.

Our team had the opportunity to sit in on portions of the training and observe their live burn demonstrations.

They also invited us to showcase how our accelerant-detection canine, Roe, works a scene. With a small sample placed in one of the burn cells, Roe nailed the detection, impressing several attendees who had never seen a fire investigation canine in action.

A special thank you to for bringing out their brush truck and helping extinguish the demo fires. We appreciate the partnership and support that made this training possible.

Residents in the area of Kirby are encouraged to take photos of the damage to their property and submit a report to the State of Texas through the individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) at https://damage.tdem.texas.gov/

It is imperative that citizens with damaged property complete the survey. The survey is in place to be able to get an accurate damage assessment to homes or property in order to qualify for possible assistance from the state.
