🦋 THE CAST IS IN… BUT WHAT STORY ARE WE TELLING?

Cibolo Creek Middle School Theatre is proud to present I Never Saw Another Butterfly by Celeste Raspanti.

Set during the Holocaust, our story follows Raja, a young Jewish girl imprisoned in the Terezín concentration camp, and the children and teachers who fought to hold onto hope, imagination, and humanity in an unimaginable place.

Through poetry, art, and friendship, these children found ways to dream of freedom.

This is a story of loss, resilience, courage, and hope. It is difficult, but it is important.

🦋 The cast has been chosen. The story is ready to be told.

🎭🐍 THE WAIT IS OVER, COBRAS! 🐍🎭

The cast and crew of Cibolo Creek Middle School Theatre’s One Act Play have officially been selected! 🎉

We are SO proud of every student who stepped outside their comfort zone to audition and interview. Auditions take courage, and every single student who participated should be proud of the work they put in.

And now… CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2026 ONE ACT CAST & CREW! 🎭👏

🎭👻 STAGECRAFT. SPECIAL EFFECTS. SPOOKY SEASON. 👻🎭

Our CCMS Theatre students are taking their skills OFF CAMPUS and INTO THE WORKSHOP! 🔥

Students in Theatre classes and Drama Club are getting the exciting opportunity to participate in a Stagecraft Workshop at Veterans Memorial High School!

While we’re there, we’ll be learning from their Theatre Department all about:

💄 Special Effects Makeup
👗 Costuming
🏚️ Set Dressing
🎨 And all the little details that help bring a production to LIFE… or maybe the UNDEAD! 🧟‍♀️👀

And we’re not just learning these skills for fun…

🎃 WE’RE PUTTING THEM TO THE TEST! 🎃

Everything our students learn will help us prepare for our ANNUAL HAUNTED HOUSE during the Fine Arts Fall Fest! 👻

🎭 GRADE CHECK WEEK! 🎭

Theatre students, it’s time to make sure you’re handling your business! 👏

Our Production Grade Check is about more than just checking a number in the gradebook. We want our theatre students to take ownership of their success, in the classroom, on the stage, and off the stage.

We check grades and behavior because accountability matters. Being part of theatre means learning how to be responsible, communicate, follow through, and represent yourself and our program well.

If something isn’t where it needs to be, that’s okay! The goal is to identify it and make a plan to improve it. We want to help our students develop the habits and skills that will help them be successful both in theatre and beyond. ❤️

📋 REMINDERS:
✔️ Get your Grade Check signed by your teachers during classtime. Do not ask to leave class to ask your teacher to sign it.
✔️ If you are failing a class, YOU must create an action plan on your Grade Check.
✔️ Behavior matters too; we are checking in on how you are doing offstage.
✔️ Grade Checks are due THIS FRIDAY!

Accountability isn’t about punishment; it’s about ownership, growth, and becoming the kind of person others can count on.

🔥 COBRAS, ARE YOU READY TO COMPETE?! 🔥

Today, Cibolo Creek Middle School Theatre got a sneak peek into the exciting world of speech competition! Our theatre classes got to see firsthand the different events students can compete in; and let’s just say… we have some future competitors in the building! 👀🏆

A HUGE thank you to Mr. Bailey for bringing some of his amazing competitors to show our students the ropes, demonstrate the events, and get them excited about what’s possible! 💜

🎭 Why do our theatre events start at 4:00 PM?

We know that when the school day ends at 3:30, it can be tempting to wonder, “Why not start right away?”

The answer is simple: our students have a lot going on! 🐍

From 3:30 PM–4:00 PM, students are welcome to stay with us in the Black Box while they:

📚 Finish homework
🍎 Have a snack or meal
📖 Attend tutoring
🎭 Check in with another organization
🧠 Take a few minutes to shift their focus from the school day to theatre

That 30-minute window gives students time to transition, take care of what they need, and get ready to be present and engaged before we move to the stage.

At 4:00 PM, it’s theatre time! 🎬✨

We want our theatre space to be a place where students can participate without having to choose between theatre, homework, tutoring, food, or their other commitments.

We make room for all of it. 🖤💜

Yes, we really do talk to walls. 🎭

There’s a long-running theatre joke that theatre people spend an unreasonable amount of time talking to walls… and honestly, our storytelling unit proves the joke isn’t entirely wrong. 😂

But there’s a purpose behind it!

When our students practice telling their stories to the wall, they’re working on literacy, sentence flow, sequencing, vocabulary, pacing, communication, and confidence. They’re learning how to organize their thoughts, make intentional choices with their words, and tell a story in a way that makes sense to their audience.

And sometimes, before you’re ready to perform for a room full of people, the wall is the perfect audience. 🧱🎭

So yes… theatre kids talk to walls.

And somehow, they’re learning a whole lot while they do it. 📚💜
