⭐ Girl Scout Gold Award Spotlight ⭐ Congratulations to Gold Award Girl Scout Tristyn Myrick of San Antonio, a member of Troops 5100 and 5103!

Inspired by a desire to support student mental health and well-being, Tristyn created her project, "Blooms & Birdies," which focused on creating calming spaces and encouraging mindfulness in her community. As an active member of Girl Scouts and captain of the golf team at Virginia Allred Stacey Jr./Sr. High School, Tristyn found a way to bring her two passions into one project.

"My project started with the idea of helping students feel calmer and more supported in a military-connected school environment where stress can show up in different ways," she said. "I wanted to create spaces where people could slow down when things felt overwhelming."

That turned into building benches for her school, a youth center, and a community garden, along with a partnership with First Tee – Greater San Antonio connecting golf with mindfulness. She also created a calming video using drone footage of golf courses to help students relax and reset. You can watch it here: https://bit.ly/4ujJn3E

Reflecting on her Girl Scout journey, Tristyn credits Girl Scouts with helping her grow into a confident leader and says earning her Gold Award represents everything she has worked toward throughout her years in the program.

Tristyn plans to attend Hawaii Pacific University and study cybersecurity.

Congratulations, Tristyn, on creating a lasting impact in your community and helping others find moments of peace and support. πŸ’šβœ¨

πŸ’š Girls in Troop 5022 recently traveled to the Texas Capitol in Austin for Texas Girl Scouts Song Fest, a special day that brings together Texas councils to celebrate sisterhood, friendship, and Girl Scout traditions.

Girls enjoyed singing classic camp songs and longtime Girl Scout favorites, trading SWAPS, touring the Capitol, and participating in a Texas-sized friendship circle. 🎢✨ Thanks for hosting, Girl Scouts of Central Texas!

⭐ Girl Scout Gold Award Spotlight ⭐ Congratulations to Gold Award Girl Scout Madalyn N. of San Antonio, a member of Troop 3129 and a student at the International School of the Americas - North East ISD.

Inspired by her passion for creative writing and a desire to encourage imagination in young people, Madalyn created her project, "Write Your World: Creative Writing Workshop." Partnering with The DoSeum, she developed and led four themed creative writing workshops for elementary-aged students, helping them discover that writing can be a fun and powerful tool for creativityβ€”not just a school assignment.

"Elementary schools tend to focus on writing as a practical skill, when I see it as a tool for imagination," she said. "I noticed that when I interacted with kids and suggested creative writing, they heard the word 'writing' and would immediately associate it with boring schoolwork. I wanted to show kids that writing can be very fun, and writing with your imagination can help practical skills, too."

To ensure her project continues to make an impact, Madalyn created a website featuring her complete curriculum and shared it with her school's PALS program, making these resources available for future educators and students. You can find out more about Madalyn's project here: https://bit.ly/4uPy0kJ

Through this project, Madalyn learned valuable lessons in leadership, responsibility, and time management while inspiring the next generation of storytellers.

Madalyn plans to attend Trinity University and pursue a degree in communications.

Thank you, Madalyn, for using your voice, creativity, and leadership to make a lasting difference in your community. πŸ’šβœ¨

⭐ Troop Spotlight ⭐ Girl Scouts in Troop 133 had an amazing experience recently at the Chris Krossing Foundation while working toward their Horseback Riding and Animal Care badges! πŸ΄πŸ’š

The girls had so much fun building skills in equine safety, feeding, riding, and overall horse care. 🐎✨ With expert guidance and passion from Donna East Kiernan and her team, any initial hesitation quickly turned into confidence and excitement. What a great way to grow their confidence and share an experience with their Girl Scout siters! πŸ’š
