GLP-1 Medications May Be Linked To Lower Risk Of Breast Cancer, Research Suggests

USA Today (6/2, Alltucker) reports, “A study of more than 111,000 women...found that those who took popular GLP-1 drugs prescribed for obesity or diabetes had a more than 30% lower risk of breast cancer.” Investigators came to this conclusion after examining “the health records of more than 111,000 women ages 45 to 80 who were overweight and had breast imaging done at Penn Medicine facilities.” The findings were presented at the ASCO Annual Meeting and published in JCO Oncology Practice.

A study of more than 110,000 women found those who took popular GLP-1 drugs prescribed for obesity or diabetes had a lower risk of breast cancer.
