Dear Redland Oaks Elementary Staff and Community,

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the new principal of Redland Oaks Elementary. My name is Bethany Thompson, and I am honored to join a school community with such a rich history and a commitment to helping children grow.

As I enter my 20th year in education, I am reminded of how fortunate I have been to work alongside dedicated educators and families who make a difference in the lives of students every day. My career has included serving as a classroom teacher, math coach, summer school principal, and assistant principal. Most recently, I had the privilege of serving as assistant principal at Las Lomas Elementary here in NEISD. These experiences have shaped my belief that meaningful progress happens when people work together, support one another, and keep students at the center of every decision.

San Antonio has been home to my family since 2018, and I am grateful to continue serving the NEISD community. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two sons, and daughter; traveling; listening to music; and making memories with the people I love. My family is an important part of who I am, and as a parent of children who have attended and currently attend NEISD schools, I know firsthand how much trust families place in a school to care for and nurture their children.

As I begin this new chapter, I want to take the time to listen, learn, and get to know the people who make Redland Oaks special. I look forward to celebrating the strengths and traditions already established here while working alongside you to build on that foundation. My hope is that every student feels known, valued, and encouraged to discover what they are capable of, and that every staff member feels supported, appreciated, and proud to be part of our school.

I am excited for the opportunity to serve Redland Oaks and look forward to the relationships, learning, and memories we will create together. Thank you for welcoming me into this community. I cannot wait to get started!

With Raccoon Pride,
Bethany Thompson
Principal, Redland Oaks Elementary

Happy Grandparents Day from the Redland Oaks family! We are so incredibly grateful for the love, wisdom, and support our amazing grandparents bring to our community every single day. To keep the family fun going, we invite everyone to join us for our upcoming Game Night on September 24th! It is going to be a fantastic evening of play, laughter, and connection. Plus, our school Book Fair will be open for shopping during the event, making it the perfect opportunity to browse together and pick out some new favorite reads.

At Redland we have a traveling Oak Tree that gets passed around during our faculty meetings. It’s a way for staff members to highlight each other. This past meeting, Ms. Delana gave the Oak Tree to Mrs. Bryson 🌳🦝

Here is what she said:
Mrs. Bryson shows a true passion for teaching in everything she does, from her creative lessons to her supportive interactions with students, staff, and parents. She is patient, upbeat, and always the first one to run towards a challenge. I could come up with countless positive things to say about Mrs. Bryson. We are truly lucky to have her.

Crimes were committed this week at Redland... crimes against books! 🔍📚Our 4th and 5th graders stepped into the role of literary detectives for "Solving the Shelf Crimes: The Case of the Shredded Stories." To crack the case, students examined ruined books, combined physical clues with text evidence, and made inferences to figure out exactly how the damage happened. It was a thrilling, hands-on way to sharpen their critical thinking, reading skills, and remind everyone to treat our library books with care!🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️ .pta NEISD Library Services

A long weekend is coming up! 📅

A reminder that Monday, September 7 is a student and staff holiday. Our campus, along with all NEISD campuses and District offices, will be closed.

We hope our students, staff and families enjoy the extra day off! Rest, recharge and have some fun—we’ll see everyone back at school on Tuesday! 😁

At Redland we have a traveling Oak Tree that gets passed around during our faculty meetings. It’s a way for staff members to highlight each other. This year the tress has started with Ms. Delana 🌳🦝

Ms. Delana is the first face you see when you enter Redland Oaks and she is always smiling. Even though she is still relatively new, she has become a pillar to our school community. She goes above and beyond to help wherever she can. Thank you Ms. Delana for your warmth in our front office.
